Council Member Jason Winston
Jason Winston has represented Atlanta’s District 1 on the City Council since 2022 and was re-elected in 2025 to continue delivering results rooted in community, service, and solutions.
A graduate of Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business, Jason earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in finance and marketing. He went on to launch a marketing consulting business to help entrepreneurs grow, and later served as an adjunct professor at his alma mater.
After chairing the Council’s Community Development and Human Services Committee in 2024 and 2025 - overseeing issues including housing, planning, economic development, and parks - Jason was selected to serve as Chair of the Atlanta City Council’s Finance/Executive Committee. In this role, he helps lead the Council’s work on the City’s budget and fiscal policy, bringing a finance background and a commitment to transparency, accountability, and long-term stewardship of taxpayer dollars.
Jason continues to serve on the Community Development and Human Services Committee and the Committee on Council. He was also named Co-Chair of the Neighborhood Reinvestment Initiative Commission, a 2026 effort focused on ensuring every neighborhood has access to the tools and resources needed to thrive.
Residing in historic Grant Park with his wife, Shalya, and their two daughters, Jason has been involved with the Warren Boys & Girls Club for over a decade, earning the nickname “Coach Jason” for his dedication to youth mentorship through sports. He also serves on the Grant Park Conservancy Board, supporting efforts to preserve parks and expand greenspace. When not at City Hall, you can find him cheering on the Atlanta Falcons each Sunday during football season.
